What we do

Start with the property, not the product

Every recommendation begins with what you want to power, what your roof can support and how your local utility treats solar. Equipment comes after the facts.

Residential Solar

Rooftop and ground-mount systems sized to your actual usage, not to the biggest array that fits. Modeled on your roof, shading included.

Home solar

Commercial Solar

Carports, rooftops and ground arrays from 25 kW to 3 MW, with demand-charge analysis and depreciation modeling built into the proposal.

Commercial

Battery Storage

Powerwall, IQ Battery and FranklinWH systems with automatic backup, so a grid outage becomes something you read about instead of sit through.

Storage

EV Charging

Level 2 chargers installed by licensed electricians and wired to charge off your array during the sunniest hours of the day.

EV chargers

Roofing

Shingle, tile and flat-roof replacement done solar-ready, on one contract and one warranty with your array.

Roofing

Service & Repair

We fix other people's systems too, failed inverters, dead monitoring, orphaned arrays from installers who went out of business.

Why Mr. Legit

The panels matter. The people matter more.

A good solar project is careful roof work, clean electrical work, realistic numbers and a team that still answers after the system is turned on.

  • Your property before our product. Usage, roof condition, shade and utility rules shape the recommendation.
  • Local context. Your team understands the permitting and interconnection process where the system will actually be installed.
  • Clear choices. Equipment, financing and assumptions are explained in writing so you can compare without decoding a sales pitch.
  • No pressure. Ask hard questions, take the proposal away and decide on your time.
  • Accountability after installation. Support responsibilities and warranty terms are documented before work begins.

What could solar save you?

Drag your average electric bill. This is a rough model. Your real proposal uses your roof, your shading and your utility's actual rate schedule.

How it works

Seven steps, no surprises

Here are the four that matter most to you. The other three, plus what we need from you at each stage, live on the process page.

01

Free solar quote

Send a recent bill and your ZIP code. A specialist near you reviews the roof, expected production and installation cost, then explains the options without a sales script.

02

Site survey

A local site specialist measures the roof, checks structure, inspects your main panel and confirms what the installation crew will need before work is scheduled.

03

Permits & install

We pull city permits and file the utility interconnection. Installation is one to three days, handled by a local Mr. Legit Solar installation crew.

04

Inspection & PTO

City inspection, utility permission to operate, then we walk you through the monitoring app and turn the system on together.

A bright interior powered through the day
Battery storage

The grid goes down. Your house doesn’t.

Solar alone shuts off in an outage, that's a safety requirement, not a defect. Pair it with storage and your critical loads switch over in about 20 milliseconds. Most people never notice except that the neighbors are dark.

  • Automatic backup for your fridge, internet, lights, medical equipment and well pump
  • Time-of-use arbitrage: charge at 11am, discharge through the 4–9pm peak
  • Stack two or three units to back up A/C and an EV charger
  • Works with new systems or bolts onto solar you already own
The Mr. Legit standard

What should feel different from the first conversation

Trust is not a star count. It is whether the advice is clear, the scope is honest and the team stays accountable when the difficult questions begin.

We look before we sell

A recommendation should reflect your bill, roof, shade, electrical service and local rules, not a generic system size chosen from a call script.

We show the assumptions

Production, savings and financing only mean something when you can see what went into the model and what could change the result.

We stay reachable

Before work begins, you should know who owns the project, how updates arrive and where to go when the system needs attention later.

Ways to pay

Four options. We show you all of them.

Cash, loans, leases and PPAs create very different obligations. We explain ownership, incentives, total cost and the fine print so you can judge the right structure for yourself.

Cash

Lowest lifetime cost and the fastest payback. Best if you have the capital sitting in a low-yield account.

Solar loan

$0 down, 10–25 year terms. You own the system, keep every incentive, and the payment usually lands near your old bill.

Lease

Fixed monthly payment, no ownership, no maintenance responsibility. Simple, and it forfeits the incentives to the owner.

PPA

Pay per kilowatt-hour produced at a rate below your utility. No upfront cost; watch the annual escalator clause closely.

Where we work

All 50 states, local teams, one standard

Nationwide coverage should not feel anonymous. We assign every project to installers who work in that region and understand its roofs, weather, utilities and inspection process.

Common questions

The six we get asked every day

There is no honest one-price answer. Cost changes with your energy use, roof, electrical panel, local permit requirements, equipment and financing. We start with those facts, then show the full project price, equipment list and cost per watt so you can compare proposals on equal terms.

It depends mostly on your permitting office and utility. The physical installation is usually the shortest part; design, permits, inspection and permission to operate take longer. Before you sign, your local team should give you a realistic timeline for your address and explain which parts are outside its control.

Your proposal should show the assumptions behind its production estimate: roof geometry, shade, orientation, weather data and expected equipment losses. We also explain the monitoring, service process and warranty terms that apply to your project in writing before you decide.

Not always, but the roof needs enough useful life to justify putting a long-lived system above it. A site survey should check condition, structure and likely replacement timing. If work is needed, we explain the options before solar is scheduled. See roofing.

Not by itself. A grid-tied system shuts down during an outage for line-worker safety. To keep power, you need battery storage with an automatic transfer switch. A single 13.5 kWh battery typically carries a fridge, internet, lights, and a few outlets for 12–24 hours; two batteries plus a smart panel can run most of a house, including one A/C zone.

You should know that answer before installation. We document who supports the workmanship, who supports each piece of equipment and how to request service after switch-on. Manufacturer and workmanship terms vary by project, so the exact coverage belongs in your written proposal, not in a vague website promise.
